About

This research will build on a previously conducted systematic review that aggregated information on successful interventions to address social isolation. This research will consist of qualitative interviews with patients and focus groups with healthcare providers which will be combined with the previous systematic review to design a pilot intervention to address social isolation. We will then test the pilot intervention at the St. Michael’s Hospital Academic Family Heath Team.

Impact

We will use the results of the qualitative portion of this research to tailor our intervention to the specific needs of the St. Michael’s Hospital Academic Family Heath Team patient population. We anticipate these qualitative interviews, along with the previous systematic review, will inform an evidence-based pilot intervention that will reduce social isolation for patients at the St. Michael’s Hospital Academic Family Heath Team.
