Patient costs associated with accessing HIV/AIDS care in Malawi

This study contributes to our understanding of patient costs by surveying patients on ART in Malawi. By comparing costs borne by patients in a centralized programme to those in a decentralized programme of care, we add to what is known about the cost implications of scaling up. In particular, we aim to quantify how much patients who access care close to where they live save in comparison to those who must travel to an urban area.
