About
Isobel is a Senior Research Associate at the Upstream Lab, where she joined in January 2025 to lead to the Talent Development Program of the PREPARED project. She holds a PhD in Immunology from Imperial College London, UK. Isobel has previously worked as a Research Associate at the University of Alberta, gaining extensive experience in deciphering the immune and molecular mechanisms associated with various infections and cancers. Additionally, she has teaching experience from McMaster University and is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of researchers and the application of science to solve real-world problems.
Isobel explores comprehensive training strategies to equip researchers with skills in upstream health systems, pandemic preparedness and response, including modules on surveillance strategies, data science, implementation science, participatory research, and clinical research. Isobel’s future goals include implementing her basic science expertise in mentoring emerging scientists, and contributing to innovative solutions for global health challenges.
