Anna Dare MBChB PhD FRCSC is a General Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist at St Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto. She is appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, University of Toronto, with cross-appointment at the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
Dr. Dare’s work focuses on reducing inequities in access, quality, and outcomes for surgical and cancer care in Canada and globally. Her research spans epidemiology, health services, economics, and policy. As a CIHR Health Systems Impact Early Career Fellow, she studies how social, clinical, and system factors shape cancer care and outcomes in Canada. She has served on several international Commissions tasked with improving access to surgical care around the world, including the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, the Lancet Oncology Commission on Cancer in the Commonwealth, and the Lancet Commission on Lung Cancer. Dr. Dare works with partners in Ontario and internationally to translate data and knowledge into stronger, more responsive surgical systems.
