Call for Submissions: Metascience and AI Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Sloan Foundation is partnering with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) to support up to four additional Canadian postdoctoral fellows at eligible Canadian institutions with awards of CAD $140,000 over two years. Dr. Andrew Pinto of the Upstream Lab is available as a mentor to supervise eligible candidates in the following areas:

  • AI and the pace of scientific progress
  • Explainability and alignment in scientific AI

Research Opportunities: Master's Students from IHPME, 2025-2026

Upstream Lab at St. Michael’s Hospital has two new paid research opportunities for Master’s students enrolled in a program at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto.

Project descriptions:

Program duration: September 2, 2025 to August 28, 2026 (1 year)

Benefits: Students are eligible to receive an annual stipend of $31,000. Additionally, they are encouraged to apply for available scholarships to supplement this stipend.

Application deadline: Applications will be accepted until June 27, 2025 at 5 PM ET. Results will be announced via e-mail in August 2025. Please submit a cover letter and resume to upstreamlab@unityhealth.to.

Prospective Master’s & PhD Students

Dr. Andrew Pinto is accepting Master’s and PhD students enrolled at Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation and Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Students who are interested in being supervised by Dr. Pinto should email upstreamlab@unityhealth.to at least 6 weeks prior to deadlines, and provide a CV and brief letter indicating their alignment with the Lab.
