Dr. Isobel Okoye contributes to the PREPARED study, with a focus on the Biospecimens component. Her work involves formulating and investigating research questions that support the identification and testing of respiratory pathogens, contributing to the study’s broader goals of pandemic preparedness and surveillance. She is especially interested in fostering collaborations that integrate basic science with public health research.
She holds a PhD in Immunology from Imperial College London, UK. Isobel has previously worked as a Research Associate at the University of Alberta, gaining extensive experience in deciphering the immune and molecular mechanisms associated with various infections and cancers. Additionally, she has teaching experience from McMaster University and is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of researchers and the application of science to solve real-world problems.
Isobel’s future goals include implementing her basic science expertise in mentoring emerging scientists, and contributing to innovative solutions for global health challenges.
