About

Kyla Lee is a fifth-year PhD candidate at the Institute of Medical Science, conducting her research at Mount Sinai Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Robert Maunder. Her doctoral work explores immigrant patient-primary care doctor relationships and participatory approaches to healthcare, including patient-centered care and shared decision-making.

Beyond her doctoral studies, Kyla works at Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care, where she contributes to evaluations of digital health technologies and programs. In collaboration with patients with lived experience, she recently led a project to co-create a comic illustrating the experiences of patients with precarious status accessing virtual care, an AMS-funded project supervised by Dr. Ibukun Abejirinde. She is also interested in graduate and higher education, having created a graduate course using Virtual Reality to teach patient-centered communication methods to graduate research students. Kyla is an uninvited first-generation immigrant settler. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two beloved cats.
