About

Road to equitable recovery: Examining the impact of COVID-19 on low-income, racialized and/or individuals unable to shelter at home and assessing policy response aimed at supporting disproportionally impacted communities

This project assessed the social, economic, and health outcomes impact that the pandemic had on low-income, racialized, and/or individuals unable to shelter at home due to job nature or experiencing homelessness through conducting a scoping review.

We assessed the policy response aimed at supporting communities disproportionally affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting a policy analysis of legislative action that targeted housing, anti-racism, childcare, intimate partner violence, equitable access to healthcare, nutrition, and financial support domains.

The protocol for the scoping review has been published on OSF.

Impact

This project outlines how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted individuals who are racialized, low-income, and unable to shelter at home due to job nature or experiencing homelessness. It also points out the laws and policies that need to change or be enacted to prepare better for future pandemics and support communities made vulnerable.
