Political economy dichotomy in primary health care: bridging the gap between reality and necessity

The World Health Organization’s Global Report on Primary Health Care (PHC) shows that the long-term benefits of reorienting health towards PHC outweigh the costs. However, political commitment to investing in PHC often wavers. This comment provides insights into the reasons for the mismatch between where investments are made and where they are needed.
