The goal of the authors is to describe the impact of social determinants on the experience of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic within the pediatric population. Some of the key questions explored include how this impact may influence the long-term health and security of children, and what measures can be taken to ameliorate this impact moving forward.

The authors concluded that Social Determinants of Health is essential to the pandemic research priorities, public health and vaccination goals, and economic policy implementation. They acknowledged that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the broad disparities that exist within our society and their direct and indirect impacts on health outcomes.
