About
Joseph is a Research Coordinator for the SPARK Implementation and Scale-up Studies and the Project Dignify Evaluation study. Prior to joining Upstream Lab, Joseph worked as a Mental Health Housing Clinician with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH). He previously coordinated various research projects including helping develop the VCH region’s first recovery college in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association North and West Vancouver branch.
Joseph holds an MSc degree from The University of British Columbia with a focus on health and sport psychology. For his master’s thesis, Joseph interviewed people who had experienced homelessness about their experiences playing in the Vancouver Street Soccer League and how it influenced their mental health and social identity. His research interests span mental health and well-being in community and clinical settings, community sport and physical activity, addressing social determinants of health, and community-based qualitative methods.
