About

Innovative strategies for early detection of acute respiratory infections: co-design of a tailored surveillance system with primary care providers and emergency department physicians in Canada (Early Warning Systems Phase 2)

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Early Warning Systems (EWSs) and co-design an early threat detection system for respiratory infections in collaboration with Canadian primary care providers and emergency departments. The co-designed system should be tailored to their specific needs and easily implemented in various healthcare settings.

Impact

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of global preparedness and surveillance for infectious diseases. Early Warning Systems (EWSs) can reduce the impact of global infectious diseases by facilitating information exchange, monitoring, and early detection. EWSs can facilitate the early identification of symptoms surges to case clusters before they overwhelm health systems.
