About

Riya Hansi is a Keenan Research Summer Student (KRSS). She holds a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Global Health. Her experience supporting youth experiencing housing insecurity, including facilitating psychoeducational and skills-based group sessions, sparked her interest in how systemic barriers shape access to care and health outcomes, particularly for marginalized communities. Passionate about research that translates community-informed evidence into improvements in healthcare access, practice, and policy.

At Upstream Lab, she is leading a scoping review examining patient decision aids and shared decision-making tools for individuals experiencing psychosis to inform the Reasons for Hope project. The project is co-designing a patient decision aid to support young people experiencing early-phase psychosis, along with their families and healthcare providers, in making informed treatment decisions.
