About

Mélanie completed her MSc in Health Systems Research at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto, supervised by Dr. Andrew Pinto and Dr. Sara Allin. Her Master’s thesis investigated influential factors in budget-setting for public health in British Columbia, with the aim of identifying policy options promoting more stable public health funding. She is continuing this work as a researcher at the North American Observatory on Health Systems and Policies.

Mélanie is also the lead researcher on the Police Funding study at the Upstream Lab, which includes an analysis of municipal police funding across Canada over time, as well as a scoping review collecting health perspectives on the movement to defund police.
